Security Architecture Services

Security Architecture Services

Cube Cyber designs and builds security architecture for Australian organisations, Zero Trust, network segmentation, cloud and identity, from initial review through to implemented controls. We work with enterprises, government and operators of IT/OT environments that have outgrown perimeter-era designs and need architecture that reduces real attack paths, not just reference diagrams.

KEY CHALLENGES

Most environments we review share the same underlying problems

1

Flat networks

Flat networks that let one compromised laptop reach everything, file servers, backups, and in converged environments, the systems running the plant or the ward.

2

Cloud and identity sprawl

Cloud and identity sprawl, where a decade of migrations, mergers and quick fixes has left nobody with a current picture of what trusts what, and legacy firewall rules nobody dares to touch.

3

Designs that exist only on paper

Designs that exist only on paper, a strategy document or vendor reference architecture that was never fully implemented, leaving the gap between intended and actual state as the real exposure.

METHODOLOGY AND FRAMEWORKS

Every engagement follows the same four-stage path, scoped to the environment

1

Discover

Map the environment as it actually is, assets, data flows, trust relationships and existing controls, including the undocumented parts, which are usually where the risk lives.

2

Design

Produce target architecture and a staged transition plan, prioritised by attack-path reduction and sequenced around operational constraints such as change windows and clinical or production uptime.

3

Build

Implement with your team or ours, configuration, migration and cutover, with security controls validated as they land rather than audited afterwards.

4

Validate & handover

Test that the implemented architecture matches the design (our Security Testing practice can independently verify), then hand over documentation, runbooks and knowledge transfer.

Designs are aligned to the frameworks your obligations reference: the ASD Essential Eight and ISM, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001 control objectives, and IEC 62443 where the architecture crosses into OT.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

An architecture review examines how your environment is designed, segmentation, identity, trust relationships and control placement, and identifies structural weaknesses. A penetration test attempts to exploit weaknesses in the environment as built. They complement each other: the review finds systemic issues, the test proves what is exploitable today. We deliver both, and each informs the other.

Both, and it is a deliberate point of difference. The architects who produce the design provide oversight throughout implementation, configuration and validation. We have designed and delivered security architecture for some of the most complex environments in Australia, including some of Queensland's largest digital hospitals and Australia's largest financial organisations.

Yes. Architecture engagements start from what you already run, firewalls, identity platforms, EDR, cloud tooling, and we design around consolidating and configuring those investments properly before recommending anything new. Where new capability is genuinely needed, we are vendor-agnostic in the design and transparent about our partnerships.

A focused architecture review of a mid-sized environment typically runs a few weeks; design and build programs are staged over months and sequenced around your change windows. We scope engagements to the environment rather than selling a fixed block of days.

Yes, OT and converged IT/OT architecture is a genuine specialisation, including segmentation between corporate and operational networks aligned to IEC 62443. We work across industrial control systems, building management systems and clinical environments, with more than 10 years' experience in OT.
