Cube Cyber delivers cybersecurity governance, risk and compliance for Australian organisations, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification programs, Essential Eight assessment and uplift, NIST CSF alignment, and virtual CISO services. We work with organisations that need to prove their security posture, to a certifier, a regulator, a board or an enterprise customer, and want a management system their team can actually operate, not a shelf of documents.

GRC engagements usually start from one of three pressures:
Core capabilities & deliverables
ISO 27001 certification
End-to-end certification programs, scoping, risk assessment, ISMS build, internal audit and certification support, designed so the management system fits how your organisation already works. For technology companies, certification is often what unlocks the enterprise deal; for regulated entities, it is what keeps the regulator satisfied.
ISO 42001 AI management systems
Certification support for the AI management system standard, from AI governance policy through to implementation. Most organisations are already using AI more widely than their governance accounts for; ISO 42001 gives that use a defensible structure.
Essential Eight assessment and uplift
Maturity assessment against the ASD’s Essential Eight, followed by a prioritised, costed uplift plan and hands-on implementation support. We report the maturity level you actually hold, not the one the tooling claims.
Virtual CISO
Senior security leadership without the executive headcount, board reporting, risk management, security strategy and vendor oversight, delivered by practitioners who also design, test and defend environments. Advice grounded in delivery, not theory.
NIST CSF alignment
Current-state assessment and target profile against the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, giving boards and executives a defensible, widely recognised way to measure and communicate security posture over time.
Every GRC engagement follows the same four-stage path, scoped to the standard and the obligation:
Assess
Establish the real current state, controls as they operate, not as they are documented, against the target framework, and identify the gaps that matter commercially and legally.
Plan
A prioritised, costed roadmap sequenced around your deadlines, certification audit dates, regulatory reporting cycles or tender timelines, with quick wins separated from structural work.
Implement
Build the management system, policies, controls and evidence alongside your team, so the system reflects how the organisation actually operates and survives contact with day-to-day work.
Certify and maintain
Support through external audit, then ongoing internal audit, management review and continual improvement, because certification is a starting line, not a finish line.
We work across ISO 27001, ISO 42001, the ASD Essential Eight and ISM, NIST CSF, and sector obligations including APRA expectations for financial services and SOCI and CIRMP requirements for critical infrastructure operators. Our practitioners hold ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 Lead Auditor and CISM certifications, and Cube Cyber is itself ISO 27001 certified, we run the same management system we build for clients.
Frequently asked questions
For most organisations, a well-run program takes six to twelve months from kick-off to certification audit, depending on size, current level of cybersecurity maturity, complexity and how much of the management system already exists. The timeline is usually set by evidence, an auditor needs to see the system operating, not just documented.
ISO 27001 is a certifiable international standard for an information security management system, how you govern security. The Essential Eight is the ASD's set of eight technical mitigation strategies, what you implement, measured as maturity levels. Many Australian organisations need both: certification for customers and contracts, Essential Eight for government-aligned obligations. They overlap, and we design programs so evidence serves both. Worth noting: the ASD has announced the Essential Eight will evolve into the new Essentials series, with deprecation expected from 2027.
If cyber risk decisions are being made by default rather than by design, you need security leadership; whether it is full-time is a question of scale. A virtual CISO gives you senior leadership, board reporting and strategy for a fraction of an executive salary, and because ours also design, test and respond, the advice is grounded in what actually works.
Yes. Deadline-driven engagements are common, a certification audit, an APRA review, a tender closing date. We scope a gap assessment quickly, sequence the roadmap around the date, and are direct about what is achievable in the time available.
Only if it is built badly. A management system designed around how your organisation already works adds a manageable rhythm of review and evidence, not a parallel bureaucracy. We build systems your team can run without us, and stay involved only as much as you want us to.
