Vulnerability Management services

Cube Cyber runs vulnerability management as an ongoing, risk-prioritised program: continuous discovery across infrastructure, cloud and applications, triage against real exploitability and business context, and tracking through to verified remediation. It replaces the quarterly scan dump, thousands of findings, no owners, no movement, with a pipeline your team can actually work, and evidence your auditors and insurers can actually use.

KEY CHALLENGES

Vulnerability programs fail in familiar ways before they succeed:

1

Volume without priority

Volume without priority, the scanner reports four thousand findings, CVSS calls nine hundred of them critical, and the patching team has capacity for forty this month, with no defensible way to choose which forty.

2

Findings without owners

Findings without owners, vulnerabilities are discovered, exported and emailed, but nothing connects them to the team that owns the system, so the same findings reappear scan after scan, and the backlog becomes wallpaper.

3

Blind spots that matter most

Blind spots that matter most, the scanner covers the corporate network it was pointed at years ago, while cloud workloads, remote endpoints and OT environments, where patching may not even be possible, sit outside the program entirely.

WHEN TO ENGAGE

The strongest trigger is the moment described above: a scan report too large to action and an audit, insurer or board asking why known vulnerabilities persist. Other natural entry points are after a penetration test, converting a point-in-time result into a continuous discipline, during cloud growth, when the asset base starts changing faster than quarterly scanning can track, and when Essential Eight patching maturity has to be evidenced rather than asserted. If patch compliance is reported green while incidents keep exploiting known CVEs, the program is measuring the wrong thing.

CORE CAPABILITIES

Core capabilities & deliverables

Continuous discovery

Continuous discovery

Ongoing identification of vulnerabilities across infrastructure, endpoints, cloud and applications, with the asset coverage question, what are we not scanning, treated as seriously as the findings themselves. Delivered across the platforms you run, including our Tenable partnership.

Risk-based triage

Risk-based triage

Prioritisation by real exploitability and business context, is it internet-facing, is it being exploited in the wild, what does it expose, so the queue reflects your actual risk, not raw CVSS arithmetic. The forty things fixed this month are the right forty.

Remediation workflow

Remediation workflow

Findings routed to named owners through your ticketing and change processes, with SLAs by severity, escalation for the overdue, and verification on closure, the connective tissue most programs are missing.

OT vulnerability management

OT vulnerability management

Risk prioritisation led by compensating controls for environments where patching is rarely an option, this device, this network position, this consequence, drawing on more than 10 years of OT experience and our Industrial Defender partnership.

Attack surface integration

Attack surface integration

External discovery feeding the same pipeline, so exposed services and forgotten assets enter the program automatically rather than waiting for an incident to introduce them.

Reporting and evidence

Reporting and evidence

Trend reporting that shows risk reduction over time, exposure windows shrinking, critical findings ageing out, and evidence packs aligned to Essential Eight patching strategies, ISO 27001 and insurer questionnaires.

METHODOLOGY AND FRAMEWORKS

Programs are established in four stages and then run continuously:

1

Baseline

Asset and coverage assessment, tooling review and a triage model built around your business context, the definitions of critical that actually mean critical here.

2

Integrate

Connect discovery to ownership: asset-to-team mapping, ticketing integration, SLAs and escalation paths agreed with the teams doing the fixing.

3

Operate

The continuous rhythm: discovery, triage, assignment, remediation, verification, run by us, by you, or jointly, with our managed services carrying the operational load where wanted.

4

Improve

Regular review of coverage, SLA performance and recurring root causes, because a vulnerability that reappears quarterly is an architecture finding wearing a patching costume.

The program aligns to the ASD Essential Eight patching strategies and ISM guidance, ISO 27001 control objectives and APRA expectations, and integrates with our Security Testing practice, penetration test findings enter the same remediation pipeline, and with our Managed Cybersecurity practice for clients who want the whole discipline operated.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Scanning is the discovery step; management is everything that makes discovery useful, triage against real risk, routing to owners, remediation SLAs, verification and trend evidence. Most organisations have scanning. The failures, and the breaches, live in the management half.

By exploitability and consequence in your environment: internet exposure, active exploitation in the wild, the asset's role and what it reaches, and whether compensating controls already blunt it. CVSS is an input, not the answer, a medium on your payment gateway can outrank a critical on an isolated test server.

Unpatchable systems are a design constraint, not a program failure, common in OT, medical devices and legacy platforms. The discipline becomes compensating controls: segmentation, access restriction, monitoring and exposure reduction, tracked in the same program with the same accountability, so accepted risk is explicit rather than accidental.

Yes, from operating your existing tooling through to a fully managed service under our Managed Cybersecurity practice, with your team handling remediation actions. Most clients land in the middle: we run discovery, triage and reporting; their teams fix; the SLAs keep everyone honest.

They feed each other. Vulnerability management is continuous and broad; testing is periodic and deep. Test findings enter the same remediation pipeline, and program data sharpens test scoping, the assets with the worst exposure history get the deepest testing. Together they close the gap between annual assurance and weekly change.

Within the first quarter: complete coverage visibility, a triaged backlog with owners, and the critical exposure window measurably shrinking. From there the metrics that matter trend steadily, time to remediate by severity, ageing of critical findings, and recurrence rate, and those are the numbers your board, auditor and insurer actually want.
