Cyber Incident Response and Security Posture Improvement
Client Challenge
The organisation experienced a cybersecurity incident in which a compromised user account was used to send fraudulent emails to several suppliers requesting that future invoices be redirected to an alternative bank account.
At the time of the incident, the organisation had only limited cybersecurity controls in place, including a basic perimeter firewall and minimal endpoint protection.
These controls were not centrally managed and provided little visibility into suspicious activity across the environment.
The incident highlighted weaknesses in the organisation’s cybersecurity posture and the need to strengthen its ability to detect and respond to cyber threats.
Cube Cyber Approach
Cube Cyber was engaged to assist with incident investigation, containment and recovery. Our team worked with the organisation to analyse the attack, identify the root cause of the compromise and ensure that any remaining malicious activity within the environment was removed.
Following the incident response phase, Cube Cyber conducted a broader review of the organisation’s security controls and infrastructure to identify gaps that may have contributed to the incident.
Based on this assessment, Cube Cyber recommended and implemented several improvements designed to strengthen the organisation’s cyber defence capability and reduce the risk of similar incidents occurring in the future.
Security Improvements Implemented
Cube Cyber worked closely with the organisation to implement several practical security improvements, including:
• Enhanced threat detection and monitoring across endpoints and network systems
• Strengthened protection against phishing and malicious web-based threats
• Improved endpoint security controls to identify and contain potential malware activity
• Increased visibility into suspicious activity across the environment
• Security configuration improvements to reduce the organisation’s attack surface
Key Outcomes
Improved ability to detect and respond to cyber threats
Reduced exposure to phishing and credential compromise attacks
Strengthened protection of critical systems and sensitive data
Increased confidence in the organisation’s cybersecurity posture
